Media-supported communication training
For the Hessian Institute for Nursing Research, I was able to work on an innovative concept for purely media-based communication training for nursing staff between 2019-2024.
In short, the aim was to improve communication and thus the mental health of nursing staff. How it works: Teams meet 4 times, each time for 2 hours, and watch a series of videos together as a group in which aspects of everyday life are acted out in fictional form. The assembled group is then instructed from the video to go straight into interactive exercises, role-playing games etc. and thus immediately put the findings into practice.
The principle has already been implemented and evaluated in many facilities: the quality of communication and the well-being of the care teams has actually been measurably improved by this measure.
Cathleen Kehrs and my approach as part of our "Aufschwungslust!" training program for a more productive working atmosphere is now to transfer this approach from the care sector to the business world.
The advantages of purely media-based communication training in companies
In a world characterized by digital technologies, the methods of communication training in companies are also constantly evolving. While traditional training and face-to-face seminars still have their place, media-based training is becoming increasingly important. But what advantages do they offer exactly?
Flexibility and accessibility
One clear advantage of media-based communication training is its flexibility and accessibility. By using digital media, employees can access training content regardless of time and place. This enables companies to offer training courses for employees in different locations or with different working hours without having to operate complex logistics.
Interactivity and engagement
Modern media-supported training is characterized by its interactivity and high level of engagement. By using videos, interactive exercises and simulations, the learning content is conveyed in a lively and appealing way. Employees can actively participate in the learning process, apply their knowledge immediately and track their progress through feedback mechanisms.
Individual customization options
Another advantage of media-supported communication training is its customization options. By using learning platforms and personalized learning paths, employees can go through training content at their own pace and specifically address their individual needs. This enables companies to offer training tailored to the different skill levels and learning objectives of their employees.
Cost efficiency and sustainability
Media-based communication training is generally more cost-efficient than traditional face-to-face seminars. By eliminating travel and accommodation costs as well as the possibility of using training content multiple times, companies can achieve considerable savings. In addition, media-based training contributes to sustainability by reducing the carbon footprint through reduced travel.
Conclusion
The advantages of media-based communication training in companies are obvious. They offer flexibility, interactivity, individual customization options, cost efficiency and sustainability. Through the targeted use of digital media, companies can effectively train their employees and prepare them for the challenges of an increasingly digitalized working world.
